Our History

Little Brook Nursing Home History

Little Brook Nursing Home (circa 1950’s), Aerial View

Little Brook Nursing and Convalescent Home has been delivering high skilled nursing, convalescent and respite care to our community for more than 60 years.

In 2009, we completed the first phase of our expansion and renovation plan. We have a new kitchen and bathrooms, as well as a remodeled open common area and outdoor patio areas. We also expanded our community to 36 beds, and are welcoming new members to our family (see Transferring from Elsewhere).

In 2014, we embarked on the second phase of our expansion and renovation plan. We began external building and landscaping renovations by building new retaining walls, replacing our roof and upgrading our siding and window treatments.

Little Brook, Latest Additions and Renovations

We continued this process through 2017, replacing our deck that overlooks our front lawn and adding several beautiful cupolas with an antique rooster weather vane to complement our country inn-like residence.

Through these and future renovations, we will continue to accommodate the growing needs of our community.

Quick Facts

Little Brook Nursing & Convalescent Home (“Little Brook”) was founded in 1955, by Dr. Jorgensen who believed in caring for his community’s elders, was licensed as a New Jersey Skilled Nursing Facility in 1960, has had only four local family ownerships in over 69 years and has many weathered several financial, personnel and clinical crises—most recently the COVID-19 Pandemic and its financial sequelae.  As a minority owned, local, small business, Drs. Rosa Maria Fernandez and her husband, John P. Hampilos, have owned Little Brook for almost two decades and proudly employee over 40 local citizens as staff members who care for their Residents. To date, their stewardship and their staff’s execution of policies and practices resulted in no Resident deaths from COVID-19. Also, none of their staff members passed away from COVID-19. Little Brook is grateful to the Federal, State and Local governments for supplies, funding and guidances.
